How to measure for your ladderUpdated a year ago
When it comes to deciding the best library ladder height for your home or commercial space, there are several options available to you. We have standard ladders that we hold in stock, and these ladders have pre-set heights that you have to adhere to. If none of these standard heights will work for your application, we can provide a made to measure ladder instead.
First and foremost, you need to decide whether you have a set point that you need to work to, such as an existing fixed shelf that you want the ladder rail to fix into. This will be your starting point. What is that height? Take a measurement from the floor level, straight up to the centre point of where you want the rail to be positioned/mounted.
What is the rail height?
The rail height describes the height at which the rail is mounted. This measurement is taken vertically, straight up from the floor to the centre of where you want to mount your ladder rail. This is the most important measurement you need to determine which ladder is right for you.
Use the below chart to determine if a standard ladder will work:
Standard Stocked Ladders | Rail Height | Available in |
7ft | 2007mm (79 inches) | Red Oak & Walnut |
8ft | 2311mm (91inches) | Red Oak & Walnut |
9ft | 2616mm (103 inches) | Red Oak & Walnut |
10ft | 2921mm (115 inches) | Red Oak & Walnut |
Made to measure Ladders
If you have a set rail height that won’t work with any of the standard ladders you can order a ‘made to measure’ ladder. This means that we will manufacture a ladder to your specific height requirement. You simply need to let us know the ‘rail height’. The lead-time for made to measure ladder is approximately 6-8 weeks.
